REMOTE COLLABORATION

Remote device software development and testing

We develop and test device software even when the client’s team and hardware are in another country.

We can work on a device supplied to Renau Digital or connect to hardware at the client’s premises through a purpose-built test environment.

Our work can cover embedded software, device operating logic, HMI, backend, hardware integration and testing system behaviour on a real device.

Let’s talk about your project

TWO COLLABORATION MODELS

We work on hardware at our premises or directly on your device

We choose the working model to suit the device, project stage and technical capabilities available at the client’s premises.

Identical hardware at Renau Digital

The client supplies us with a device, prototype or identical hardware platform.

We develop and test software locally on real hardware. A second unit can remain with the client to verify the software releases, system images or firmware we prepare.

This model allows both teams to work in comparable environments without continually shipping the device back and forth.

Hardware stays with the client

If the device remains at the client’s premises, we prepare an environment for remote development and testing.

We connect to the device through an encrypted connection and, depending on the project, can update software remotely, observe the device, run tests and analyse its responses to real or simulated signals.

TEST ENVIRONMENT

A test setup tailored to the device

We do not require clients to rebuild their entire environment around our way of working.

We adapt the test setup, access and testing approach to the existing hardware, software architecture and project scope.

The environment may include:

  • a camera for observing the device or its screen;
  • communication interfaces;
  • sensors and equipment needed for the agreed test scenarios;
  • simulated sensor data;
  • access to logs and diagnostic data;
  • equipment needed to run and update software remotely;
  • a Hardware-in-the-Loop setup where the project requires simulated signals and device-environment behaviour.

We agree the configuration individually for each system.

HARDWARE-IN-THE-LOOP

Testing software responses to controlled signals

We use a Hardware-in-the-Loop approach where the project requires it.

This allows us to test a real device or its controller using controlled, simulated input signals.

This approach can help us check:

  • system responses to changing sensor data;
  • transitions between device states;
  • handling of boundary values and invalid data;
  • software behaviour in exceptional situations;
  • communication between the embedded layer, system logic and HMI.

We tailor the HIL scope to the architecture and the scenarios that actually need to be verified.

CODE AND UPDATES

A shared software development environment

We work in an agreed repository with a clear history of changes and versions.

We organise code, documentation, decisions and test results so both teams have a clear view of the current project status.

We adapt the software build and deployment process to the device platform.

Depending on the project, we can:

  • prepare successive firmware releases or system images;
  • deploy software to the device remotely;
  • control the versions used during testing;
  • document the results of each iteration;
  • return to previously agreed versions in line with the project’s established process.

REMOTE ACCESS

An encrypted connection and controlled access

Remote access to the device uses an encrypted connection.

We agree permissions, available functions and test procedures for each project.

We do not assume that every task can be completed without someone physically present at the device.

If a test requires physical interaction — such as a reset, changing a connection, replacing a component or performing a specific action — we coordinate it with someone on the client’s side.

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATION

Device development does not have to depend on your team’s location

A remote working environment makes it possible to develop device software even when Renau Digital and the client’s team work in different countries or time zones.

Each iteration leaves a record of:

  • the current software version;
  • the change history;
  • completed test results;
  • issues and decisions;
  • agreed next steps.

This allows some work to be carried out asynchronously, without both teams having to be available at the same time throughout the project.

FLEXIBLE SCOPE

We can handle an entire project or a selected stage remotely

We adapt the working model to Renau Digital’s scope of responsibility.

We can take on:

Complete device software

From embedded software and hardware integration through operating logic and HMI to backend and service tools.

A selected layer of an existing system

For example, embedded software, integration, HMI, backend, communication or a specific part of the device’s operating logic.

A specific project stage

PoC, hardware integration, system commissioning, testing or development of the next version of an existing device.

FAQ

Remote device software development — FAQ

Does the device have to be shipped to Renau Digital?

No. We can work on a device supplied to us or remotely on hardware that remains at the client’s premises.

Can you update firmware or a system image remotely?

Yes. Where the device architecture and agreed access method allow it, we can deploy successive software versions remotely.

Do you use Hardware-in-the-Loop?

Yes, where the project requires testing a real device with simulated signals or sensor data. We tailor the HIL environment to the device and test scenarios.

Can all tests be performed without someone at the device?

Not always. Some tests may require a physical action on the client’s side. We agree these actions in advance and keep them to the necessary minimum.

Can you work with a client team based outside Poland?

Yes. Our remote development and testing model also supports collaboration with device manufacturers in other countries and time zones.

HAVE A DEVICE WE COULD WORK ON REMOTELY?

Let’s talk about your device

Describe the hardware, current project stage and software scope that needs development or testing.

We will assess which collaboration model fits: working on the device at Renau Digital, a remote test environment at your premises, or a combination of both.
